Memorable. Band camp

Passing Out Parade Camp ~ 5th -9th Dec

I would not like to mention much about the first three days. Just usual practice and section presentation at night.

Day4
Farewell night
All form 3's members will be in charge of it. The farewell party starts with games. Although the games burn up some anger, let just treat it as sparks. Well the performances are interesting and jocular. Simulation of Kai Ning, Fiona and Kar Mun, our Miss World and so on. Sum Xin Ying, you're talented. Everyone can't stop laughing. And we do enjoy and feel impressed with it.
After buffet, it was something about sharing among Form5s. Every single moment we suffer, we fight, we laugh, we cheer, we scream, we cry, we play together, these memories will never wipe away from our heart. Even through life in band might be hard, but we encounter countless hardships together.

Tears show love, friendship and companionship deep inside our heart, it's so precious.

Form5s, thanks for your contribution and sacrifice. We appreciate it.

Day5
Passing Out Parade
Around 8am in the morning, preparation for the POP held at night starts. Everyone get their duties and start their work. Then, we have a little exchange session with our guest from Singapore and final rehersal for the concert. In the afternoon, 16 groups having ensemble presentation and only 6 groups are chosen to perform at night.
The concert includes :
- Ensemble
- Junior band
- Senior band

The POP night draws a great success. Thanks for anyone who work throughout the camp. And a big thank you to coach, teachers, parents and Form5s.
Very soon, the camp ends. But our love and friendship will never end, we gonna miss you all much. Our memories are priceless treasure, so always flash back and remember us.
And last but not least, we will remember all that you say and do our best to make the band shines more and more.
Form5s, Good Luck and All the Best in the future!

Student Leadership Camp < 1st-3th Dec >

All Form4 and some of the Form5 and Form 3 members of the band involved in the Leadership Training Camp held at Cameron Highlands.

DAY 1
All along the way, the bus was filled with laughter and excitement as everyone chat and joke around. We able to visit few places before launching in the camp. In the afternoon, we met our camp commander at the Butterfly Farm. With guidance of workers there, we got chance to go near or even touch some rare animals and insects. Then, we went to Villa Dahlia. Environment of the apartment is nice and comfortable. Fresh air with clean living room, bed rooms, kitchen and toilets. After checking in and settle down, the first activity started.
4 teams formed with an unique way, include Team 'Axcellent', 'Bee', 'Together' and 'Blue Spirit'. Yeah. In the time provided, we chose team leader and assistant, do team banner and team cheer. Every team introduce their team in a creative and innovative way during presentation. Team leader includes Yin Ying, Kar Mun, Felicia and Seok Fun. And then we got our own facilitator so called 'lai ma' and 'lai ba' who will take care of us in the camp. Then dinner time. Many people squeeze in to help up teacher to cook. And everyone gathered there to eat and watch astro. Around 8pm, we learned something from the activity 'Comfort Zone'. Then Games 'Copy & Paste' followed with 'Message'. Understanding between team members is needed in the games. And we learned VAK. V-Visual, A-Auditory and K-Kinesthetic. Lastly, the 'Win Win Games'. We learned to tolerate with each other in our lives. Then bed time.

DAY 2
This was an remarkable and memorable day of the camp. Early in the morning, we had morning physical exercise session. After that, the most adventurous and challenging activity - Amazing Race. Highlights of the day. Woohoo~~
In the amazing race, we were required to finish around twelve tasks within three and a half hour. We needed to be physical and mentally strong to succeed in these tasks. Every team have different experiences. But one thing cannot be deny is that every team every member showed high cooperation and team work to win the games. Leader and every member played their own important role. Everybody shared hardship and adversity together. Eating raw garlic, onion and chilies. Sweats and tears. Walk few km until feet and legs pain. Take care and help each other. The process was fun and interesting enough thus. Good try and new experiences for us.
And in the afternoon, played 'Organization System' with our facilitators.
At night, it was 'Team Spy' time. Everyone was so serious and tensed during the games. Leader needed to find out spy in team arrange by the camp commander within time given. Through this games, faith, trust and confidence in between team members is tested. After this, bond between every team member became stronger and unbreakable.

DAY 3
Last day. After morning physical exercise and breakfast, we had 'the Kim's Games'. Then, team project ~ brainstorming. In this games, everybody rack their brain and come out with all those physics theory just to protect that little egg. Finally, team Axcellent and Blue Spirit succeed where else team Bee and Together failed during the second floor challenge. The last games, 'Mining Company' needs a high understanding among team members as some of the team members need to cover their eyes to play the games. Just team Bee able to finish at the end. Lastly, marks were counted and the winner is .................... team Axcellent. Congratulation!!!
Then, photo taking and autograph session. At around 1pm, we checked out of the apartment and continue our journey at some places like strawberry farm, tea farm and so on. But very unfortunately, it was raining all the time. Therefore, we just stopped by some of the places and left Cameron Highlands earlier than our planning.

Within this few days, we do learned a lots. We tend to work in a team with a harmony group atmosphere. Every team member try to play their part to achieve goals. It is important to get interaction from everyone in the team. We learn to handle conflicts and problems together. And don't ever afraid to fall down as it may lead us to a better way. The camp teaches us to be a better person. We will apply all that we learn in band or even our whole life time.

Trumpeting Out The Beijing Olympics

74 members of AMC Marching Band went Beijing to take part in the Beijing International Band Festival 2008 – Trumpeting Out the Beijing Olympics together with 10 parents, teacher advisors and band instructor. The Beijing International Band Festival works towards expanding the love and passion of music throughout the world. The cultures of China were shared with the rest of the country in the world and it encouraged further understanding of the spirit of the Olympics. The first performance in China was done at the Olympics Cultural Square. The band had exposed them to the sense of marching band by performing formation. Everyone was amazed by our show. Whereas the indoor concert was held in Zhong Yin Music College’s concert hall. We had made the chance to know friends from the Hong Kong CWSS school band. It was a great honour for us to be invited to perform for the closing ceremony of the music festival. Seriously we enjoyed ourselves on the stage and so we did a very good job during the concert. While joining the music festival, we were able to visit Beijing within the 8 days. We went to some well-known historical sites such as Tian An Men Square, Forbidden City, Great Wall, Summer Palace and National Zoo. In the other hand, we visited the factory which make jade and pearl. Lastly, congratulations and thank you for all the member of the band for creating sweet memories during the Beijing‘s trip and hopefully the band will have more chance to showcase themselves internationally.

22nd - 31st August
Merdeka 9days' KL Trip

We brought back memories from the 9 days staying at KL for the merdeka marching parade that on 31st August. It wa a long but yet short journey for us. Still remember when the first moment reaching the Kompleks Sukan Cochraine, the just okay okay condition of the rooms, toilets and so on made us so wanted to go home. But after few days staying there, and meeting new friends from CH Miri and Lok Yuk band, it's worth it. And very luckily, we had chance to go visiting at the Sunway Pyramid and the Sunway University College. That's the only day we spent outside besides rehersal at dataran merdeka.

Here, i would like to share something regarding our rehersal and practice. Firstly, we woke up very early in the morning for the rehersal session at dataran merdeka. We reached there very early, so we just simply sleep besides waiting at the roadside. What a unique experience for us. And of course we had practices for better performance on the merdeka day. Although every single rehersal and practice was tiring and exhausting, we finally did the best on the big day and made ourselves proud. Congratulation for winning Champion of the merdeka maching parade. It was a great opportunity to involve and improve ourselves. And last but not least, thanks everyone who work hard to attain the trip especially teacher advisors who take good care and guide us.

That's conclude the big events on 2008.

History of AMC Marching Band

The Military Band of Ave Maria Convent was established in 1976. The objective of the school band is to develop the art of music and to train the students to be disciplined and cooperative.
